Collage: Letters and Words

In this class we will begin with a large letter or several letters in different fonts. Using the letters as a boarder we will create an abstract collage using magazine, old book images, wrapping paper, or any other patterned paper scraps. The collage process will be guided by the instructor. A few zentangle-like patterns will also be introduced and demonstrated. In the second half of class, we will use our collage to draw an abstract letter or word from our own creations.

  • If you have ever wondered how artists move from realistic drawing to abstract drawing this class could move you towards your quest.
  • If you have always wanted to put that old stack of unused magazines, books, or photographs to good use, this is your class.
  • If you love sitting, chatting, and creating with like minded individuals, then by all means, please join us!

By the end of the class you will not only have a collage for inspiration, and also an abstract letter or word. This art can then be copied onto thicker paper to use for a coloring page or watercolor. Come often and make a whole book!

This is a 3 hour class. For 2-12 students, all supplies included (although, I welcome magazine or wrapping paper donations). This class can travel – I will gladly bring supplies and myself to your group or location, just ask (some fees may apply). Please call or e-mail to schedule your group class today! 707-738-5886.
